Welcome to Ribchester Parish Council

This is the website of Ribchester Parish Council, serving the people of Ribchester, Stydd and Knowle Green in the Ribble Valley. It provides updates and information for everyone who lives and works here, and for anyone who would like to find out more. You will find records of the Council’s work, details of its meetings, financial records, news items relevant to the Parish, and sources of further information.
The Parish Council's role is to maintain and improve the quality of life in Ribchester for the benefit of all residents, whilst improving amenities whenever appropriate and within budget, to conduct affairs according to the recommended codes of practice and ruling legislation and to ensure accounts are appropriately managed and audited in a timely manner.
We are here to maintain and improve public areas, to preserve our heritage, to be actively involved in environmental projects, enhancement and preservation of our village, to work with local clubs and organisations, and to liaise with Ribble Valley Borough Council, Lancashire County Council and other governing bodies to maintain a good working relationship.

Parish Councils are set up and controlled by law and can only act if there is a legal power to do so. Parish Councils are often consulted on County and District issues such as planning applications, road improvements and changes to public transport. Parish Councils can provide vital local knowledge such as flooding concerns and transport and access problems.
Parish Councils are being encouraged to deliver more services and can also support local community groups and provide community activities. They also ensure that the principle authorities are aware of local concerns such as problems with potholes, highway visibility, litter and dog fouling.
